This project in concentrated on the renovation and remodeling of the traditional littoral house located on the island Krk, Croatia.
The elevated state of building degradation required a detailed reconstruction and conservation plan of the original features that traditional architecture provides.
Although the house has stone walls, the decision to maintain and renew the lower sections of the facade in it original state while covering the stone material on the upper facades created more contemporary appearance of the house. Nevertheless, stone decoration, wodden architectonical and decorative elements as well as metal details are a tried and tested formula for a successful renovation of traditional architecture.
Additional benefit for this combination of “old and new” was obtained by building a garage and a swimming pool.
The results is a peaceful and pittoresque family retreat house with a strong traditional spirit and indispensable modern elements.
